Naqsh-o-Nigar Artist
Waseem learned the craft from his father who was himself a “national treasure” and belongs to a line reaching back over 450 years to Ustad Karim Ali, a famous artist from the Mughal times. His craft shows the beautiful lacquer work in intricate traditional patterns.
The style requires days of work, strenuous procedure and complex colour work to make the finished product. Along with Waseem, his wife & daughters have been practicing the art for more than three decades and hope to keep the art alive past his own life. Their work has grown through ages as a rich heritage of this land.
